The 2020 Summer Olympics scheduled for Tokyo will be postponed because of the concern over the coronavirus pandemic.
Longtime International Olympic Committee member Dick Pound of Canada confirmed the decision in an interview with USA Today on Monday.
“On the basis of the information the IOC has, postponement has been decided,” Pound told the newspaper. “The parameters going forward have not been determined, but the Games are not going to start on July 24, that much I know.”
Now officially announcement has been made, but the most likely scenario is that the games will be postponed until 2021.
