Be careful what you believe about the intelligence of players

Threaded Fasteners Tighten Up from Monday, April 20, 2020

Justin Herbert has the perfect physical build and arm strength for an NFL quarterback. That was on display during his MVP performance at the Senior Bowl.

But he’s even more accomplished in the classroom. At Oregon he posted a 4.01 grade-point average and won the 2019 Campbell Trophy, also known as the Academic Heisman.

That’s why it was surprising when his Wonderlic score from the Combine was leaked and he scored only a 25.

That’s above average but still below what was expected for such a star student.

Well, as it turns out, Herbert actually scored a 39. That very high score is more in line with his academic history.

But it’s not really our business what he scored on a pseudo-intelligence test.

Anyone who does decide to report the scores needs to Tighten Up and at least make sure the information is correct.

For Threaded Fasteners, I’m Randy Kennedy with Tighten Up.
