Threaded Fasteners Tighten Up: How long can Mike Gundy continue at OSU?

Threaded Fasteners Tighten Up

Details of the debacle that is Mike Gundy continue to come to light.

The latest information made public about the Oklahoma State football coach involves players being disgruntled with Gundy’s lack of support during the COVID-19 pandemic. Players were told in late April that their summer stipends, which pay about $1,200 a month, were being withheld because of the financial crunch brought on by the pandemic. Without summer school, some players would have been ineligible for Pell Grants, which can be worth up to $3,000.

While that was taking place, players said Gundy was disconnection from the social and personal needs of his players, according to Yahoo Sports. Players complained that Gundy didn’t even know the names of most of his players, referring to them by mostly by number.

All the while, Gundy was speaking publicly about the need for players to return to campus because of financial reasons.

Gundy’s $17 million buyout is probably the only reason he’s still employed by Oklahoma State. That’s sad.

It’s time for Oklahoma State officials to tighten up and figure out how to get Gundy out of a position of power with influence over college students.
