Threaded Fasteners Nuts and Bolts of the Game
It’s never been more clear that college football needs a commissioner.
In the absence of someone whose priority is the health of the entire sport we’ll continue to have days like Thursday when the Big 10 took the future of the entire sport into its own hands.
Commissioners from all the Power 5 conferences have been in regular contact as they try to figure out how to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s why they were all shocked when the Big 10 announced it was going to a conference-only schedule.
There was no warning that the announcement was coming. But with it, the Big 10 has backed the other conferences into a corner.
Maybe it will turn out that a conference-only schedule is the way to go. But that decision shouldn’t be mandated by a rogue league without regard for what’s best for the sport as a whole.
