I’ve always been a fan of Philip Rivers.
I like that he’s from Alabama. I like that he was one of the league’s most effective trash talkers without cussing. I like that he became one of the leading passers in NFL history with a throwing motion no better than yours or mine.
But now I like him even more.
Rivers made a commitment last year to become the head coach at St. Michael Catholic in Baldwin County as soon as his NFL career ended. But that was before major TV networks came calling to inquire about his interest in becoming the next Troy Aikman or Tony Romo.
Rivers has apparently said thanks but no thanks and will honor his commitment to St. Michael.
Rivers has a lot of football knowledge to share with his future players. We can only hope that some of his integrity rubs off on them, as well.
