The Tennessee Volunteers have been bad at football for the last … well, for the entirety of this century. Their streak of losing at least four games every season has reached 16 years. Ouch.
But at least they’re good in basketball. Except when they play Auburn.
After Saturday’s loss, Tennessee has now dropped six straight to the Tigers. It’s not lost on anyone that Auburn is coached by Bruce Pearl, who was fired by Tennessee.
The Volunteers are still a very good basketball program under Rick Barnes. And they will be headed to the NCAA Tournament while Auburn serves a self-imposed postseason ban.
So, Tennessee may get the last laugh. But they need to Tighten Up when it comes to playing against their former coach.
