Threaded Fasteners Tighten Up: John Calipari gets up close and personal

It’s a good thing John Calipari isn’t a hard-nosed coach. Otherwise, Pat Adam may still be nursing the bruise on his face.

Calipari, the Kentucky basketball coach, and Adams, the SEC basketball official from Mobile, were literally nose to nose when Calipari was not happy with the proceedings during the Wildcats’ game against Alabama Saturday.

Despite Kentucky being called for only seven fouls all game long, Calipari had a point in being upset when the game was delayed for 6:26 of real time while Adams and his fellow officials tried to figure out a call.

The delay ultimately went in Kentucky’s favor and helped turn what was at that point a 10-point deficit into a 13-0 run and eventually win.

But since when is a coach allowed to literally go nose to nose with an official?

First, it’s not even close to being up to social distancing standings. Second, a coach can’t be allowed to show up an official so publicly.

The SEC needs to Tighten Up and make sure that annoying close-talkers are put in their place.

For Threaded Fasteners, I’m Randy Kennedy with Tighten Up.
