Status of Kentucky star up in the air

Kentucky basketball point guard Ashton Hagans has had an interesting season.

In the last week a photo came to light on social media of Hagans with a fist full of cash and the message "make sure you keep a little something in the shoeboxxx nobody can touch.” The Kentucky response was taken directly from Chris Tucker’s character Smokey in Friday: “Why you wanna bring up old stuff.”

But Hagans apparently has more issues than the possible NCAA violation.

He missed the Wildcats' game against Florida to end the regular season. His status for this week's SEC Tournament is up in the air.

After a loss to Tennessee in which Hagans struggles, he reportedly got into a argument with Kentucky coaches. Hagans then met with coach John Calipari sometime prior to the team’s departure for Florida and asked to step away.

“It’s personal," Calipari said. "He just, you know, he came up and said, ‘I’m in a bad way’. These kids, what they do — my first responsibility is the health and well-being of my players. And when a guy tells me, ‘Coach, I’ve gotta step away,’ I’m with it.”

Kentucky is the No. 1 seed in the SEC Tournament in Nashville.
