OK, so we can't actually go hang out in our favorite sports bars with our best friends while our favorite teams are playing on the big-screen TVs. But there will be a day when we can return to those days. Until then, I though it would be a good idea to reminisce about some of our fondest memories in our favorite sports bars (or sports-themed restaurants).
On Thursday's Randy Kennedy Show, Creg Stephenson and I caught up with David Rasp, owner of Heroes in Mobile. David has temporarily closed both Heroes locations as well as the Royal Scam restaurants. But he is working hard to be ready to throw the doors open when it's safe again.
Until then, we decided to live vicariously through David and his memories of more than two decades in the sports bar business. His interview with us included a story about two NFL coaches holding a private meeting in Heroes and a nasty beer that had to be consumed for superstitious reasons.
