Bucky McMillan adds to strong fraternity of Alabama basketball coaches

Bucky McMillan is the new basketball coach at Samford University, making the jump direction from the high school ranks. McMillan build Mountain Brook High School into a dynasty, as the Spartans reached the state championship game in eight of the last nines.

With the hiring of McMillan at Samford and the hiring of Andy Kennedy at UAB a week earlier, the state of Alabama is as strong as its ever been for college basketball coaches. Ritchie Riley had South Alabama within two winnable games of the NCAA Tournament before the season was canceled, Bruce Pearl led Auburn to the Final Four a year ago, and Nate Oats is building at strong roster at Alabama.
