Threaded Fasteners Nuts and Bolts of the Game
Jimmy Rane, a close friend of Pat Dye, told a story this week of the two friends riding around the coachās Crooked Oaks hunting preserve in Notasulga. Dye pointed to a tree and said something to the effect of āIām going to be buried right here and my body is going to fertilize this tree. Iām going to live in this tree forever.ā
And thatās how itās going to be. Dye was buried under that tree this week. His body was not placed in a casket ā that would have prevented it from fertilizing that tree.
That story is quintessential Pat Dye. He wasnāt perfect, but he understood in committing to something bigger than himself that would live on long after he took his last breath.
That concept certainly applies to the thousands of lives he helped shape through coaching. And now it applies to that tree at Crooked Oaks.
