You know the phrase “jump the shark?” It refers to the episode of “Happy Days” when The Fonz had to jump a shark on water skies. That episode was considered the moment when a good show crossed over to being terrible.

Well, we might be at that point with “Shark Week” on the Discovery Channel.

On August 9, Shark Week 2020 will kick off with “Tyson vs. Jaws: Rumble on the Reef.”

Yes, that’s Mike Tyson against a great white shark.

Here’s how the Discovery Channel describes the event: “These two heavyweights will square off under water, where Mike Tyson will try to score a TKO over the massive shark.”

Even without home reef advantage I’m taking the shark.

Oh, and in case this wasn’t already absurd enough, the action will be called by Michael Buffer.

Tighten Up Discovery Channel. You’ve got a good thing going. Don’t ruin it with this charade.
