Threaded Fasteners Nuts and Bolts
The decision has been made about high school football being played in Alabama in 2020 – sort of.
The plan released by the Alabama High School Athletic Association Thursday calls for football to begin on schedule on August 20th.
How many players or schools will be participating is still up in the air.
Steve Savarese, executive director of the AHSAA, set out some guidelines for returning to play such as rules for social distancing when possible. But he made it clear that the decision to play or not will be up to parents, players and local schools.
He said:
“Unless health officials shut down schools as well as all outside activities, the choice will remain with the parents. Regardless of your position with the virus and sports, your position on whether to return or not to return to school, your perspective is right. There is no wrong position here, but the choice to participate must remain with the parents.”
There are so many good reasons not to play high school football this season. But the benefits remain so great for those who choose to participate in a team sport.
Let’s hope those benefits outweigh the risks during these most unusual times.
