Threaded Fasteners Tighten Up: Never celebrate 30 yards too early

Threaded Fasteners Tighten Up

Already down 7-0 with 12:38 left in the first quarter, the Kentucky offense took the field for the first time. On the Wildcats’ first offensive snap against Ole Miss, A.J. Rose broke free on his way to a 75-yard touchdown run. But 30 yards from the goal line Rose lifted his arm in the air and began celebrating the big play.

On the 30-yard line!

A hustling Jacory Hawkins chased down Rose and tackled him on the 3. Two plays later, Rose fumbled at the goal line and the Rebels recovered.

The play cost the Wildcats seven points. They went on to lose by one point in overtime.

In addition to being a dumb play, what’s the appeal of crossing the goal line at a speed that is no faster than you or I could run? Show off your speed. Get in the end zone. Then celebrate.

Kentucky is now 0-2 after two weeks of boneheaded plays. The Wildcats are talented but they need to Tighten Up.

For Threaded Fasteners I’m Randy Kennedy with Tighten Up.
