Kane Brown Balances CMT Awards Hosting Duties With Emotional Performance

Wednesday was a busy night for Kane Brown.

The country superstar celebrated his 27th birthday by hosting the 2020 CMT Awards alongside fellow singer Ashley McBryde and "Modern Family" star Sarah Hyland, while also taking the stage for an emotional live performance.

Brown performed his next single, "Worship You," live for the first time on the CMT Awards' Cumberland Park outdoor stage in downtown Nashville before a socially-distanced crowd. Prior to Wednesday night, the singer said he was dedicating his performance to his wife, Katelyn Jae, and their 11-month-old daughter, Kingsley Rose Brown, both of whom he credited as his inspiration for the song.

“The song I’m performing is a song called ‘Worship You.’ It’s my next single out to country radio,” Brown told Country Now ahead of the performance. “When I wrote this song, it was about my wife and then our beautiful baby came into our picture and now it’s kind of around both of them. I worship them. They’re my family and I love them to death.”

Brown said his wife and daughter will also appear in the music video for "Worship You," adding that Kingsley has already become quite the star.

“Kingsley has already been in two music videos over this quarantine. She’s a little superstar, she’s got her own rider, her own stylist, everything. She’s a diva,” Brown added via Country Now. “She had her little Doc Martin’s on, a little dress. But it’s been amazing.”

Along with hosting and performing, Brown also received multiple CMT Awards nominations for "Collaborative Video of the Year" both for his "Cool Again" music video with Nelly and "One Thing Right" collaboration with Marshmello.
