Threaded Fasteners Tighten Up: Florida State needs to play

Threaded Fasteners Tighten Up

Kentucky was missing enough players because of COVID-19 that nobody would have blamed the Wildcats for postponing their game against Alabama. But they went to Tuscaloosa and took their 63-3 whipping.

Mississippi State had only 49 scholarship players available — well below the 53 the SEC recommends a team have in order to play. Yet, the Bulldogs came within one timely Georgia quarterback change pulling off the upset in Athens.

Then there’s Florida State.

The Seminoles were less than three hours away from taking a home beating administered by Clemson. But a disagreement between the two schools about how Clemson handled a player who may or may not have tested positive for COVID-19.

Clemson immediately said they wanted to play. Florida State mumbled something that sounded like a sigh of relief.

Look, it’s a tough time for all teams. But those who are pulling out of games in which they are major underdogs need to Tighten Up.

For Threaded Fasteners, I’m Randy Kennedy with Tighten Up.
