Threaded Fasteners Nuts and Bolts of the Game: Juggernauts fight for title

If you’re a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes or Alabama Crimson Tide, life is good. The two college football powerhouses will square off Monday night in south Florida for the national championship.

The only surprising thing about this title matchup is that Clemson didn’t somehow figure a way to make it a three-team round robin for the crown.

College football is as top heavy as it’s ever been. A full year ago, the question about the playoff was which team would join Alabama, Ohio State and Clemson in the final four. It turned out to be an overmatched Notre Dame.

Maybe college football needs some major rule changes before the sport becomes interesting to fans of only a few programs.

But for now, let’s enjoy that the two teams that deserved to play for the national championship are going to do so. Considering there was a time when there was serious doubt if we’d even have a season, that deserves to be celebrated.

For Threaded Fasteners, I’m Randy Kennedy with Nuts and Bolts of the Game.
