Threaded Fasteners Tighten Up: Let's see the action, not the coaches

Do you know what Nick Saban looks like when his team kicks a field goal? He tends to clap and pat somebody on the back.

If the thought of watching that thrills you then you should tune into the home town TV broadcast. The cool concept of listening to the local radio team while watching the broadcast of the playoff game was ruined by half of the screen being occupied by Saban.

This is becoming an infuriating trend. During Saturday’s Alabama-Auburn basketball game the announcers took great delight in half the scene being devoted to Bruce Pearl while he screamed through a mask.

Dan Dakich even compared Pearl’s ability to scream to that of Iowa coach Fran McCaffery, who he gleefully reported was a star on the Fran Cam.

Put a mic in the huddle and that would increase the enjoyment of the broadcast. But watching someone coach is no more exciting that watching the manager fill up the drink cups.

TV producers, please Tighten Up and show us the game.

For Threaded Fasteners, I’m Randy Kennedy with Tighten Up.
