Threaded Fasteners Nuts and Bolts of the Game: It's 55, why use LV?

I’m a firm believer in the saying when in Rome do as the Romans do.

But since we’re not playing this or any other Super Bowl in the Roman Colosseum then I think it’s time to drop this ridiculous tradition of identifying Super Bowls by Roman numerals.

This year’s big game is the 55th. That’s a 5 and a 5.

It’s not an L and a V.

Didn’t we fight for our independence from Rome so we wouldn’t have to use their numbers or spend their lira?

I’m not sure on the exact history of all that, but I do know that Roman numerals are confusing and we have our own perfectly fine set of numbers.

Let’s reserve Roman numerals for identifying chariot races and marathons that actually start in Marathon.

This is Super Bowl 55. It’s as simple as that.

For Threaded Fasteners I’m Randy Kennedy with Nuts and Bolts of the Game.
