The Super Bowl halftime show officially jumped the shark Sunday night in Tampa. Except the sharks were wearing red and black suits and had apparently suffered severe head trauma.
I don’t know anyone who is a big fan of The Weeknd. And I don’t think many people were converted after the halftime performance.
Look, who to be a fan of is a personal preference. Just because I would have rather watched ’Til Tuesday or even Wednesday Addams than The Weeknd doesn’t mean everybody has to have the same opinion.
But there are enough performers who bridge the generation gap who could have performed.
Give me Bruno Mars, who is loved by people who are 4 and 94. Or a star who can bring in some guest performers so there’s something for everyone.
It was the Super Bowl. People of all ages and tastes were watching. As ’Til Tuesday sang, voices carry.
In this case they fell on disappointed ears.
