Threaded Fasteners Nuts & Bolts of the Game: Even icons should follow rules

Patrick Ewing is 7-feet tall. And, as my momma would say, he’s too big for his britches.

Ewing was back at Madison Square Garden this week to watch his Georgetown Hoyas beat Villanova in the Big East Tournament.

The former New York Knicks superstar got all worked up when he was requited to produce a credential to gain access to certain restricted areas in the arena.

“Everybody in this building should know who I am,” Ewing said in a tirade to the press. “Is this Madison Square Garden? Jeez, is my number in the rafters or what?”

Ewing not only played the “do you know who I am” card, but he also whipped out the “do you know who I’m friend” line, saying “I’m going to have to call (Knicks owner) Mr. (James) Dolan.”

No matter how rich or famous a person is they aren’t above the rules, even if they are 7-feet tall and have their jersey in the rafters.
