I don’t know if Jameis Winston is going to be the next Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints organization. But after listening to his press conference this week, I’m convinced he still has a chance to be the franchise quarterback he was drafted to be.
The Hueytown native was effusive in his praise of Brees and his work ethic this week. Winston vowed to put some of those lessons to work. And I believed him.
The Saints still have not decided between Winston and Taysom Hill as the starting quarterback for next season. But only one of those two has thrown for 5,100 yards and 30 touchdowns in an NFL season. That’s Jameis Winston.
Now, if some of those other traits that made Brees an all-time great can rub off on him, Winston may be the perfect successor for the Saints.
