ESPN is in a really tough spot.
There isnβt a single college football fan who isnβt a fan of Lee Corso. Heβs been on College GameDay since game one, even back when the show was a low-budget studio affair.
His love of the game and polarity among coaches, fans and his co-host are a big part of why the show has become such a huge part of the show.
But weβre about two years past the time when we should have celebrated Corsoβs exit from the show. At 86, Corso no longer contributes anything to the show other than a reminder of how great it used to be.
Lee Corso is a college football treasure. I want to remember him as a person whose love of college football made it the sport better and made us all enjoy our Saturday mornings a little more. Every appearance on the show this year cheapens that legacy.
