The last time Florida State started a season 0-3, the Seminoles were in their first year under new head coach Bobby Bowden. During that 1976 season, Florida State rallied to finish with a record of 5-6. The very next year the Seminoles went 10-2 and began a glorious run.
Nobody thinks these Seminoles are going to win five of their next eight. And there’s certainly no optimism that double-digit wins are on the way next year.
Florida State has now lost to Notre Dame, Jacksonville State and Wake Forest.
Only a game against UMass on Oct. 23 will provide a chance for the Seminoles to be favored to win a game the rest of the way.
At this point, college football fans are no longer making fun of FSU. Now it’s more a matter of feeling sorry for the once-powerful program. Tighten Up Seminoles.
