Is it really as simple as saying the Clemson dynasty was built on superstar quarterbacks Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence?
Without those two guys, does Clemson go back to being Boston College with a lake?
This season would suggest the answer is yes. The Tigers are 4-3 this season after a double-digit loss to Pittsburgh. It could be worse. Clemson’s three wins against Division I teams this season have been by an average of five points. In other words, 4-3 could easily be 1-6.
With games left against Florida State, Louisville, UConn, Wake Forest and South Carolina, there is still time to Tighten Up and get back on track. Or, the home stretch could prove that the Clemson dynasty was simply the good fortune of having two all-time great quarterbacks.
