Threaded Fasteners Tighten Up: Players putting fashion over function

If your game-day uniform includes a hoodie as an undershirt then you can’t play on my team.

Several Auburn players, including running backs Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter, were sporting the fashion statement Saturday night at South Carolina.

That decision says to me that some players care more about looking good than doing everything they can to help their team win.

It makes no sense to give defenders another way to make a tackle just because you want to make a fashion statement.

I’m all for looking good. You can show your sense of style by wearing sweat bands, eye black, high socks, low socks or no socks. You can wear gloves or a skull cap or colorful shoes.

None of those things put the individual before the team.

But giving the other team even a slight competitive advantage should never be in style.

For Threaded Fasteners, I’m Randy Kennedy with Tighten Up.
