Anyone who has a vote for the Heisman Trophy has the right to fill out the ballot any way they see fit. For instance, Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder finished eighth, but five people voted him as the winner. I didn’t see it that way, but the choice is completely defendable.
I have less understanding for anyone who voted for C.J. Stroud or Jordan Davis, neither of whom would get a vote from their fans as the best players on their own teams.
But my real beef is with one Heisman voter who said he didn’t have Alabama’s Will Anderson on his ballot because he didn’t see him play enough.
Another way of saying that is that he doesn’t have the commitment or time to deserve a vote.
Bryce Young won the award, which I believe was the right choice. Thankfully, enough voters figured out the complicated process of finding a way to watch Alabama play.
