Now that Arkansas has been routed by Duke in the Elite 8, we can officially put a wrap on a disappointing March Madness performance by the SEC.
Overall, the record was 5-6, but that doesn’t really tell the story.
Auburn, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama and LSU combined to beat only one single-digit team, that being Arkansas’ impressive win over Gonzaga.
Everyone except Arkansas was eliminated by a double-digit seed. That includes Alabama, which lost to an 11-seeded team from the play-in game for a second straight year.
The SEC will have six new head coaches next year. There is still going to be talent available, but the league needs to Tighten Up in the tournament.
