Some local school systems are closing Wednesday due to the threat from Francine:

09.10.24 Superintendent Updates: Weather Update

Parents,

We want to let you know that we have been on top of the weather developments in the Gulf regarding the tropical activity. School will operate on a normal schedule tomorrow, but ALL extracurricular activities will be canceled including After School Child Care.

We are going to wait until later this evening to make a determination about Thursday but we will have a final decision for you by Wednesday morning.

Please know confirmed information will be sent by me. If we cancel school, you will get a message directly from the system through email and text communications. You can also view our announcements on our approved social media sites.

From the George County, MS School District:

Due to the immediate threat of inclement weather in our area, the George County School District has made the decision to close all schools for students and staff on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Also, all athletic events and activities are canceled on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

Thursday, September 12 will be a delayed start day. Bus routes will begin two hours later than normal. Students and staff will report to school two hours later than regularly scheduled. Staff should contact their immediate supervisor with any questions.
