Threaded Fasteners Tighten Up: Don't throw the ball away on a 2-point play

Threaded Fasteners Tighten Up

With a minute left in the third quarter, Kentucky scored a touchdown against Auburn to close the Tigers’ lead to 15-13. Kentucky coach Mark Stoops decided to go for 2 in hopes of tying the game.

Reasonable fans could disagree about whether that was the right call. But what happened next is not debatable.

Kentucky quarterback Terry Wilson rolled to his right looking to pass. When the pass rush began to close in on him, he threw the ball 10 yards out of the back of the end zone to avoid the sack.

Of course, a sack is the same result as an incompletion on a 2-point try.

Wilson could have tried to run for the score or thrown the ball in the direction of one of his teammates. Who knows, he could have gotten a pass interference call.

This kind of infuriating mental error would be inexcusable in a junior high game. In the SEC? Wilson needs to Tighten Up.

For Threaded Fasteners, I’m Randy Kennedy with Tighten Up.
